Parking is allowed on site only, not on street side.  Please be courteous and respectful of our neighbors, we are located at the end of a residential street.


When you return please take all trash with you and never throw trash into the waterways.

My name is Chris Fant, I worked at Bills Marine where I assisted mechanics, trailered boats to and from the boat ramp, as well as test drove boats. I'm currently a tug boat captain for Moran Towing and operate tugs 100 feet in length and weighing between 230-350 gross tons. Growing up on the water here, I'm very familiar with the Chesapeake Bay and most of its tributaries especially the Elizabeth and Lafayette River.

I have been on the water my whole life. My dad has been an avid fisherman for as long as I can remember. I first started driving boats when I was just a kid with him. I work for the city of Virginia Beach currently 4 days a week. I am a hydrographic/Land survey crew supervisor. I spend a lot of time on the water for work (at least once a week, sometimes daily) Our current vessels that we drive are Jon boats with small 9.9hp tiller motors (rarely used), we just got an 18 foot sea ark center console with a 60hp mercury and the boat that I drive regularly is a 25 foot RBS (similar to a coast guard boat) with twin 225hp Mercury's. I have been trained by a retired coast guard captain that now works for the city of VB.

My name is Eric, I am a 25 Ton Masters License Captain. I have been a live aboard for many years and hold 4 seasons operating both fishing and recreational vessels as a merchant mariner. I sail with 7 years total sea time and have sailed the entire east coast as well as the passage from Cali to Hawaii. My name is Mike, I'm a licensed captain, instructor, retired naval officer, and an environmentalist focused towards cleaning Virginia's waterways and transitioning the pleasure boat industry away from Internal Combustion Engines. During my 21 year naval career I captained high speed small craft, led and trained diverse maritime teams, and had the unique pleasure to captain civilian sailboats, yachts, and powerboats. I served 51 months abroad in 26 countries, which provided tremendous opportunity for learning and growth, and serves as the foundation of my expertise. As far as experience, I started the marine patrol unit at Langley AFB in 2009. I've worked water survival/search and rescue for numerous sorties with USCG, USAF, NNPD, HPD, as well as numerous hurricanes. I also enjoy boating/fishing in my free time. Frequently Asked Questions: Your Guide to renting at Electrified Marina

  • Do I need experience?

    • No boating license is required.
    • Our boats are very easy to operate, very similar to driving a golf cart.
    • We do requirement the operator (driver) must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver's license and a major credit card to secure the reservation.
    • We will do a boat briefing with you when you arrive and we will provide you with a map of fun sightseeing courses that you can take once you leave the dock.

  • What are Operator/Renter requirements

    • The person making the booking (renter) is considered the primary operator (driver) of the boat.
    • Renters must be 21 years and up with a valid driver's license.
    • Please bring your driver’s license to the marina on the day of your rental in order for us to complete your rental check-in.
    • We require a major credit card to book reservation.
    • A $500 security deposit is required at check-in at the marina
    • Details are in the “Security Deposit” section of our “Important Renter Policies” portion of this document).
    • Insurance coverage is mandatory for each boat rental
    • Details are in “Renter’s Insurance” section of our “Important Policies” portion of this document).
    • Renters must also watch the Power Boat Safety video and pass the test prior to your “reservation.

  • Where are you located and is there parking?

    Electrified Marina

    765 W. 48th St in Norfolk, VA


    Our marina is located at the end of a beautiful neighborhood street near ODU. Do NOT park on the street as that's reserved for our neighbors that live here.  We do have available parking but it is limited. We ask that you carpool as we only have room for a maximum of 2 cars per reservation.


    Call us at (757) 987-1728 if you need more parking and we will direct you where to park.

  • What should I bring with me?

    • Don't forget to bring sunscreen and sunglasses.
    • Dress properly for the weather (a jacket for evening may be smart)
    • You are welcome to bring food, drinks and coolers (keep in mind that heavy coolers must be considered when calculating maximum weight capacity for your boat).
    • We do not allow red wine, or red drinks of any kind (they stain).
    • Please keep in mind the person driving the boat must remain under the legal limit in consumption of alcohol.
    • Please remove and dispose of all trash as you deboard.

    If you happen to forget a cooler we do have some onsite to rent, along with ice that can be purchased.

  • When should I arrive for my rental?

    Please plan to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to your reservation time to allow for parking and check in.

  • Can I decorate my boat?

    You can absolutely decorate your boat for the occasion. Please keep in mind when choosing decor, however, that Virginia has a law against releasing balloons into the environment. You must remove all decorations upon leaving the boat.

  • Do you have changing rooms at your location? What about lockers?

    For your convenience we do have spacious restrooms at our location that can be used as changing areas. We do not have lockers. Please leave extra belongings in your car. We are not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

  • What is your Cancellation Policy?

    Cancellation requests must be made at least 48 hours prior to your cruise. You may request a full refund (minus a 10% processing fee).


    All requests must be made in writing. You must email us at rentals@electrifiedmarina.com. Same-day cancellations will be considered a no-call/no-show. No refunds of any kind will be offered.

    Weather


    Electrified Marina reserves the right to cancel any reservation due to weather in which Electrified Marina feels the conditions are unsafe, in this situation all reservation deposits will be refunded. Any cancellations made by renter and not Electrified Marina due to inclement weather will be judged on a case-by-case scenario by Electrified Marina.

  • Can I bring my pet?

    We do allow dogs on our boats. You may bring up to 4 dogs for your reservation. Please consider this when calculating the maximum weight capacity for your boat. If you plan to bring your pet please let us know ahead of time as we charge a pet cleaning fee of $25.


    *Doggie life jackets are available in multiple sizes for rent for $10/rental.

  • Do you provide life vests?

    Yes, we provide life vests for all ages. Children under 13 years of age must wear a life vest on a moving vessel in accordance with the USCG.

  • What are the boat capacities?

    Please keep in mind these capacities include people, pets, and coolers/belongings.


    Princecraft Brio 190: maximum 1150 lbs

    Fantail 217: maximum 1700 lbs

    Volt 180: maximum 1850 lbs

    X-Shore Eelex 8000: maximum 1834 lbs

    Elux Stealth: maximum 1700 lbs

  • Are there speakers on the boat?

    Yes, the boat has a Bluetooth compatible speaker for you to play whatever music you like.

  • Can we fish or crab? Swim or dock?

    There is no fishing or crabbing due to the mess it leaves behind on our boats. There is also no swimming or docking permitted as there is no ladder to climb back in easily.

  • We are not familiar with the water way, where should we go?

    We will provide you with a map at check in as well as some recommendations on where to go in order to give you plenty of sightseeing options.

  • What if I need to hire a Captain?

    If you have chosen that you would like a Captain to operate your rental please note; All captains are considered independent contractors and should be directly contacted and hired by the renter.

  • Can I smoke onboard?

    Smoking or burning of any kind is prohibited onboard. Your security deposit will not be refunded if any evidence of smoking is found on the boat.

  • What about weather issues?

    • We want you to enjoy your time on the water and we understand that sometimes weather gets in the way.
    • We make every effort to reschedule your rental if the weather does not cooperate on your rental day.
    • On the occasion there is inclement weather and it is not safe to be on the water, we will make that call and notify you to discuss options.

  • Is there a security deposit?

    • There is a $500.00 security deposit (separate from the rental fees).
    • The security deposit will be charged at the time of the rental.
    • The security deposit will be released when the boat is returned without any damage.

  • Do you offer rental insurance?

    • Insurance coverage is mandatory for each boat rental.
    • During booking, you may pre-select an insurance option, and review the estimated cost.
    • Important note: Insurance charges will be collected and activated once you arrive at the marina, not when you book your reservation.
    • Insurance charges are not included in the rental price total when you book your reservation (since the insurance does not get charged and activated until you actually arrive at the marina to check-in for your boat rental).    
    • Insurance charges are NON-REFUNDABLE

  • What if Electrified Marina cancels my reservation?

    • In the case of a cancellation by Electrified Marina LLC, the deposit and booking fee will be refunded in full.
    • We will cancel/reschedule your rental if the weather is inclement or inclement weather is imminent.
    • We will not cancel a rental based solely on a chance of precipitation. All too often, the weather forecasts change drastically and quickly or in a lot of cases are very inaccurate.
    • Inside of the 48 hour window, we wait until we have a high degree of certainty that hazardous/inclement weather is imminent.
    • The decision to cancel a rental will be made by Electrified Marina LLC on the day of the rental and will be communicated to you by email or phone.
    • The reservation may be canceled at the sole discretion of Electrified Marina LLC due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
