Erick Pinzon is from Virginia Beach, Virginia where his father was stationed as part of the U.S. Navy. After spending most of his life in the Hampton Roads area, he and his family moved to San Diego, California where he met his eventual high school sweetheart Chelsea Hedrick. In 2011, he began his career as a BMW technician, where he was exposed to the electric vehicle (EV) community, and rode in the innovative Tesla Roadster. Since that special ride, the internal combustion engine was a thing of the past! Over the next 9 years he would work various roles for Tesla Motors, learning the EV industry and eventually assisting with the establishment of the infrastructure from the ground up. Throughout his time with Tesla, he volunteered countless hours at public education events, advocating for car charging stations throughout the Mid-Atlantic, became a  board member of Virginia Clean Cities, helping organize and recruit an electric car club in the Hampton Roads Tidewater area. He has owned two dozen plug-in vehicles which he brings to public events and shares on Turo (vehicle rentals), hoping that he can continue to spread the word of Green Energy and minimize the carbon footprint  zero emission.

After leaving Tesla in 2021, Erick has pioneered numerous “green” businesses in the Hampton Roads area. Opening an all-vegan deli last year, Honest Pastures in Virginia Beach, and most recently he partnered with Erin, creating Electrified Marina, LLC – the ONLY all electric marina in Virginia. Erick and his partners have made waves, not only in the EV community but with Environmental Protection groups, which has earned them the recognition as a Riverstar Business in 2022 for their sustainable and reformist practices. In addition to all the amazing work they have completed there are plans in place for permeable pavers, water canteen filling station, electric car chargers, solar panels, and rainwater collection.

Erin Gatling

CO-OWNER

Erin and Casey have been happily married long enough (since 2013) for two children to join the crew, Gunner and Paige. From the first SpaceX Falcon 1 orbital launch to the Falcon Heavy, Casey, an Instrumentation Manager and a Manufacturing Manager (literal Rocket Scientists, no kidding!) had their fingerprints all over every rocket that lifted off. Working long days and having lots of help raising the kids, milestones were rocketing by, It was time to reset the stage.

In July 2017, Casey and Erin chartered a sailboat in the British Virgin Islands (BVIs) as the sun was setting, Gunner was playing Tarzan on deck, Erin made the comment “Let’s buy a boat and sail around the world with the kids.” Before she could catch her next breath, Casey said “Yes''. From that moment, every waking hour was spent planning and researching. The budget was sent through the wringer and the boat shopping began. Immediately these rocket scientists discovered a Catana 47 ft catamaran. It was gorgeous. They fell in love with it, and put a “For Sale” sign in the lawn and made the down payment.

On October 25, 2018, after a full day of work, the family said farewell to their beloved careers and best friends. That night they took a red-eye to Virginia to move aboard their new floating home! After 10 very busy days, and changing the boat name to Endless Playtime, they cast off to the BVIs.

After sailing a glorious 6353 nautical miles together, mostly around the Caribbean, they were certain they made the right decision. To better prepare the new home for an around the world sail, a major electrical and kitchen refit was necessary. Once complete they sailed to Virginia, where the boat was hauled out to repaint the bottom. Things suddenly changed. Less than one month before departure. Erin received a phone call informing her their boat had been severely damaged. It fell off its jack stands in the middle of the night. The entire boat hit the gravel ground of the boat yard. No one was around. No video footage. No winds. No earthquakes. It was badly damaged.

After a couple months of hotel & rental car shuffling, they knew they needed to focus on the positives and create a home again. This was a big speed bump, but it was not going to devastate their long-term ambitions. Deciding to shop for what they call their land yacht, a motorhome, a new sense of security was established allowing them to maintain a traveling lifestyle which kept everyone happy.

“Don’t change the dream: change the plan. We look back and are thankful to have enjoyed our dream careers. We look forward to and are excited about the future memories we will make traveling the world as a family. We are now full-time parents”.

P.S. There still have not been any determinations on “Endless Playtime”, the case is still in litigation.
